Max Ferrari Signs Multi-Year Extension with York9 FC

Toronto, ON (October 13, 2020) – York9 FC are thrilled to confirm that midfielder Max Ferrari has extended his stay with the club through the end of 2022.

The deal also includes an option for 2023.

The 20-year-old, raised in Newmarket, ON, joined the club from Aurora FC back in February and was one of a number of Nine Stripes’ youngsters to make a strong impression at the recent Island Games tournament.

Ferrari racked up 158 minutes, contributing to all seven York9 games in Prince Edward Island, and his pace, energy and purpose particularly stood out. In the opening fixture against Atletico Ottawa, Ferrari was sprung from the bench early in the second half with York9 trailing 2-0. Immediately, he made an impact. True to his name, he raced clear down the right side before superbly teeing up Lowell Wright to finish expertly. It was a crucial moment. The subsequent momentum ensured the team conjured an equalizer shortly after and a 2-2 draw was guaranteed.

Ferrari was heavily involved in two other delicately-balanced fixtures: the hard-fought battle with Valour FC and the superb 3-2 victory over Forge FC. Given the tight nature of both games, it said much for the trust placed in him by Head Coach Jimmy Brennan.

According to York9’s Managing Consultant, Angus McNab, the extension was a just reward for the dedication Ferrari has shown throughout the year.

“I was so happy to offer Max this new deal because he deserved it”, McNab says.

“I’m delighted he’s agreed to it. He came into 2020 determined to improve and the fact he appeared in every one of our seven Island Games fixtures was a true reward for all the work he has put in. Max realizes this contract doesn’t make him the finished article just yet and his continued willingness to work hard is a great example to our entire squad”.
